Pike State Forest (Day Hike)

Join the Co-op for a more casual hiking day. Plan to hike 6 miles along the Patoka River and through mixed hardwood and pine forest.

We'll hike two 3-mile trails. Both hikes are moderately easy with gentle (but lengthy) inclines. We’ll eat lunch between the two hikes at the picnic shelter.

ALL TIMES ARE LISTED IN CENTRAL DAYLIGHT (CDT)

Plan to meet at Lowe's at 8:00 AM (CDT). We'll carpool, to Pike State Forest and meet at the Shelter House. From there, we can shuttle to our trailheads. You can leave your lunch in the car, but pack water and a few snacks in your day bag.

WHERE/WHEN TO MEET:

• 8:00a - Meet at Lowe's to carpool
• 9:00a - Arrive at Pike State Forest Shelter/Playground
• 9:15a - First hike (3mi)
• 12:00p - Lunch at Shelter
• 1:00p - Begin second hike (3mi)
• 3:30p - Wrap up
• 5:00p - arrive in Evansville

WHAT TO BRING:

• sturdy shoes for hiking
• water (for drinking) and snacks
• packed lunch (can leave in car)
• Sunscreen and Bug spray

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

• Trails are rated moderate to easy with extended low inclines
• The Fire tower is closed.

GROUND RULES:

• Dogs welcome on 6ft non-retractable leash.
• Leave no trace, and pack out all your trash.
