Mogan Ridge West (Day Hike +🐕)

Lets take advantage of the warmer temperature while we can! Join the Co-op for an exciting 8-mile hike along the center section of Mogan Ridge West.--- More Break ---

We’ll hike point-to-point, staging cars at two different spots to make the most of the scenic terrain. This moderate hike will take you through a diverse landscape of woods, ridges, and open vistas, offering a great opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of this trail system.


• Difficulty: Moderate, with extended climb.

• Length: 6 to 8 miles (see notes)

WHAT TO BRING


• Orange vest -- it's hunting season!

• Extra Layers - Keep warm

• Sturdy shoes for hiking

• Day Bag
• Water (for drinking) and snacks

• Packed lunch (eaten on trail)

• Sunscreen and Bug spray

• Walking stick or hiking poles (optional)

• Clean shoes for the car ride (leave in the car)


WHEN/WHERE

• 8:00a - Meet at Lowe's to Carpool
• 9:15a - Meet at Marathon (I-64 and IN-37, Exit 79) to Caravan

• 9:30a - Arrive and stage cars at parking lots
• 
9:45a - Start hike

• 12:00p - Lunch on trail

• 2:30p - Wrap up hike

• 4:00p - arrive in Evansville


GROUND RULES


• Leave no trace, and pack out all your trash.

• No children.

• Dogs on a 6-ft fixed leash. Can be off-leash only while on trail.

NOTES

• The trail is a combination of dirt paths, old roadbeds, and existing roads.
• We will hike a minimum of 6.0mi, but as we approach 4mi, we can extend the hike to 7.5mi if everyone decides they're up for more distance.
• Gross elevation gains are +800/-1019ft.
  The majority of the elevation gain is +400ft between mile 1.5 and 2.0.
