Panther Den Wilderness (Backpacking, 1 night)

After hiking Saturday at Bell Smith Springs, join us at Panther Den Wilderness for a low-mileage, high-reward night in Shawnee National Forest.

We'll make this a very laid-back trip with minimal mileage - only a 3 mile loop split between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

We'll caravan to the trailhead (see the map inset) after our Bell Smith hike wraps up at 14:30 CDT. Expect to arrive at Panther's Den near 15:30 CDT.

• Distance: 3+ miles (1.5 mi Saturday, 1.5 to 3 mi Sunday)
• Pace: 1.5 mph

Ground Rules

• Leave no trace, pack out all your trash.
• No children unless specified.
• Dogs permitted, but only with organizer approval first. (We need to check compatability.)
• Follow all park/forest regulations.

Cost

• There are no costs associated with day-use or backpacking.
• No permits are required at Panther's Den Wilderness.
