Macedonia Trails (Pennyrile State Forest)

Just outside of Pennyrile State Resort Park, the newly rehabilitated Macedonia Trails have recently reopened after tornado damage in December 2021 forced their closure. The redesigned bike trail system offers a fresh layout with some new trails to explore!

Before the closure, we explored about 9 miles of the original network. Since reopening, we’ve uncovered around 6 miles—with plenty more likely to discover.

We’ll hike at a casual pace, aiming for roughly 9 miles over 4.5 hours.

Schedule

ALL TIMES LISTED IN CENTRAL TIME (CST/CDT)

• 8:30 AM – Meet at Lowe’s (Evansville East) to carpool
• 10:00 AM – Arrive at trailhead, begin hike
• 3:30 PM – Wrap up the hiking
• 5:00 PM – Arrive in Evansville

Ground Rules

• No children.
• Dogs permitted at organizer’s discretion (must be leashed).

Notes

• Restrooms available nearby at the State Park lodge.
• Treat your clothes with Permetherin for ticks.
