Patoka Lake Loop

Its getting warm out there! So lets go Hiking!

With the melting of snow it time to streatch our legs and get outside. Let go explore the hiking trails at Patoka Last State park.

We will plan to take the Trail 2/3 Loop which starts at the Nature Center. The full loop will be around 6.5mi with the option to shorten it to a 3.5 loop depending on the conditions of the trails. There are several lookout points along the way.

• Difficulty: Moderate to Rugged
• Length: 6.5 miles
• Terrain: Trails are well maintained, but has a limited number of signs along the way. Southern Indiana's classic hilly terrain.

BE PREPAIRED FOR MUD!

What to Bring

• Sturdy hiking shoes or boots
• Day pack
• Water (at least 1L)
• Snacks and/or packed lunch
• Sunscreen and bug spray
• Weather-appropriate clothing (dress in layers)
• Walking stick or hiking poles (optional)
• Clean shoes for the car ride home (leave in the car)

Schedule

ALL TIMES LISTED IN CENTRAL TIME (CST/CDT)

• 8:45 AM: Meet at Lowe's to Carpool
• 10:00 AM: Arrive at trailhead (Nature Center), begin hike
• 12:00 PM: Lunch on trail 
• 2:30 PM: Wrap up hike
• 3:45 PM: Arrive back at Lowe's

Ground Rules

• Leave no trace, pack out all your trash.
• Dogs permitted on fixed 6-foot leash only.

Cost

• $7 entrance fee for In-State vehicles ($9 out-of-state)
