Carpageddon (aka Wabash River Float)

Join us for a short, relaxed float down the Wabash River.

We'll start at the June Barrett Public Access Site on Church Street in New Harmony, IN and paddle (or float) 5 miles downstream to Harmonie State Park. This float will take approximately 2~4 hours.--- More Break ---

We'll eat lunch on a sandbar mid-way to Harmonie State Park.

Be prepared to battle some Asian carp while paddling. They can jump out of the water (as shown in the photo). Bring a knife of other long sharp object to terminate any carp that might land in your boat. (Laws prohibit throwing live carp back into the water.)

WHAT TO BRING:

• Kayak or Canoe
• PFD
• Sunscreen and Hat
• Dry bag with change of clothes
• Packed lunch, snacks, and water.
• a knife (or screwdriver) to spear any carp that land in your boat.

LOGISTICS:

We'll carpool as best we can. (See event comments for detailed logistics.) All drivers will need to go to June Barret Boat Ramp (Put-in) at 10:30am. We'll then shuttle select vehicles to Harmony State Park and bring the drivers back to the put-in, where we'll begin our paddling adventure (est 11:00a).

COST:

• Drivers will need $7 for entry into Harmonie State Park.
• Otherwise, this event is free. (Consider pitching in for gas, though.)

OTHER NOTES:

This event will be postponed in the case of flood-stage water levels (above 12ft), and may be shortened in the case of low levels.

GROUND RULES:

• No children
• Dogs permitted, but please have a Canine floatation device (CFD)!
