Join us for a relaxed two-night winter campout in the Hoosier National Forest. We’ll camp Friday and Saturday nights, hike on Saturday, and head home Sunday morning.
This is drive-in car camping — no backpacking required. Just pull in, pitch your tent, and settle in for a cozy weekend.
Saturday's hike will be approximately 12 miles (6 hours).

- 2:00 PM — Meet at campground, set up camp
- Afternoon — Free time (games?)
- Evening dinner, campfire

- Optional group hike or lake exploration
- Afternoon relaxation / social time

- Pack up, depart by mid-morning
What to Bring
Essentials
- Tent with rainfly (3- or 4-season)
- Sub-zero sleeping bag & insulated pad
- Warm layers (fleece, wool, synthetics)
- Hat, gloves, and waterproof boots
- 2L of water (you'll probably want more)
- Food for all meals:
- Friday - lunch & dinner
- Saturday - breakfast, trail lunch, dinner
- Sunday - breakfast
- Snacks
- Headlamp / flashlight
- Mess kit, toiletries, and camp gear
Optional Comforts
- Camp chair
- Firewood or firestarter
- Camp stove / coffee setup

What to Expect
- Plan for nighttime temperatures below freezing.
- Watch the forecast to make appropriate adjustments to your gear.
- We'll make a fire at the campsite, but I don't plan to bring firewood. There's usually ample supply of firewood if you scavenge for it.
- Dress in layers... temps may change drastically throughout the day and overnight.
- It's hunting season, so wear bright colors when hiking away from camp.
Cost
- $10/night/site (non-electric) -- bring cash to place in drop box.
