Enjoy the crisp fall weather on the banks of the Ohio River near Leavenworth, IN.--- More Break --- This hike will take us through some of O’Bannon Woods’ most scenic ridges and valleys, hardwood forests, and views of the Ohio and Blue rivers.
- Difficulty: Moderate
- Length: 8 miles
- Terrain: Rolling wooded hills, rocky paths, and several moderate climbs. Expect uneven footing, a few creek crossings, and MUD.
What to Bring
- Sturdy hiking shoes or boots
- Day pack
- Water (at least 1L)
- Snacks
- Packed lunch (we’ll eat at the picnic area mid-hike)
- Sunscreen and bug spray
- Weather-appropriate clothing (dress in layers)
- Walking stick or hiking poles (optional)
- Clean shoes for the car ride home (leave in the car)
Schedule
ALL TIMES LISTED IN CENTRAL TIME (CST/CDT)
- 8:00 AM: Meet at Lowe's (Oak Grove)
- 9:30 AM: Arrive at trailhead, begin hike
- 12:00 PM: Lunch on the trail
- 3:30 PM: Return to parking lot
- 5:00 PM: Arrive back at carpool location

- Dogs permitted on a fixed leash at organizer's discretion (contact organizer).
Notes
- Restrooms available throughout the park.
- The firetower is open, we'll visit it.
- Indiana State Park entrance fee: $7 per in-state vehicle ($9 out-of-state).
